THE APPARENT recovery of Russian President Vladimir Putin from the multiple fatal illnesses Western media sources said he was suffering from, is being put credited, by some, to a secret visit to the Marian shrine at Lourdes in France.

“It’s remarkable,” said Dr Hugh Jekyll of the Department of Miraculous Transformation at Jerusalem’s Jesus Mary and Joseph College, a joint Catholic and Russian Orthodox institution devoted to research into the role of the divine in medical recoveries. “The man was supposedly crawling around in his death bed, if you were to believe some stories. He was dribbling, shaking, limping, bloated and had so many tumors you could sell them. Now, he’s chatting to journalists, lucid, calm, his usual calculating former intelligence colonel self. It can only be a miracle!”

“The word I hear is that he limped into Lourdes disguised as an Irish nun,” said investigative reporter Harvey Bernstein, whose book on the Ukrainian War Run All That By Me Again is due for publication in December. “And then he takes the waters and … hallelujah!”

Not everyone agrees, however.

“No, this is transformation is demonic,” insisted Lucifer Mongoose, an advisor to Mexican drug cartels and expert in the occult. “Your average god hasn’t the cojones to cure everything Comrade Putin was said to be suffering from. You have have large scale credit with Satan for that that kind of thing. My money’s on Beelzebub.”
