TRUMP BACKERS URGE HIM TO EMPLOY MAIDAN DEFENCE AGAINST CAPITOL CHARGES

SMART LEGAL MINDS have urged former, and perhaps soon to be, President Donald Trump to argue that the American establishment’s support for the revolution which overthrew a democratically elected president in Ukraine in 2014, is proof that the actions of his own supporters at the US Capitol on 6 January 2021, were perfectly in line with the political views of America’s ruling elite.

“If it’s good enough for Ukraine, then it has to be good enough for the US of A,” said Duke Hazzard, a lifetime Republican from Texas.

Others pointed to the long and honorable American tradition of overthrowing legitimate governments it doesn’t like.

“Sure didn’t we help overthrow that feller Mosadegh in Iran, and then Allende in Chile, and then Morsi in Egypt? Didn’t we support all that?” asked twelve-year-old “Little Bobby” (full name withheld) from Ohio. “And weren’t they all democratically elected? Ain’t I right there, Pa?”

“Sure are, son,” said the boy’s father, a former soldier who lost a leg in Iraq. “I’d throw in Saddam Hussein too, except he wasn’t exactly elected – though we didn’t seem to mind as long as he was our tyrant – and he was one nasty son of a bitch.”

Trump advocates believe that the prosecution will drown in its own hypocrisy. “They’re choking on it already,” remarked a demonstrator who admits he entered the Capitol through a window. “Hey, the doors were locked. Fuck that, it’s my legislature too.”

Meanwhile, the DC Beltway interior is alive with rumors that Trump will call numerous witnesses from Ukraine, and other unfortunate countries, to give evidence of US interference with elected governments around the world over the years. “The idea would be to show that a few Trump supporters breaking into the Capitol was not a rebellion,” said a legal expert who did not with to be named. “A rebellion needs much more planning and organisation. And definitely no shamans!”
