COUP MEANS GABON NO LONGER BONGO LAND SAY ARMY INSURGENTS

FROM SOMEWHERE IN AFRICA

SICK OF RULE by the same family for 55 years, the Gabonese Army has decided that enough is enough and dethroned newly elected President Ali Bongo. “No more Bongo land,” said a coup spokesman.

As another former French colony throws out its ruler, Paris is worried that its old territories might be finally breaking free of its colonial grip. The French have worked hard to keep Gabon Bongo land over the decades, including intervening militarily. And they want the President reinstated.

Unfortunately for Paris, they are very unpopular in Gabon and everywhere else they rule by proxy. “The days of Bongo rule in Gabon may be coming to an end,” says Africa expert T.I.A. De Witt, a former South African mercenary turned Catholic nun. “They are transitioning, I like to think.”
