RIOTS FOLLOWING THE stabbing of children by an immigrant from North Africa, may have been a cover for a well-planned city-centre robbery, which was conducted in full view of police and cameras, say law and order experts.

“There was a terrific amount of looting,” says Dermot Gilligan-Cahill, former police inspector and now lecturer in criminality at a Dublin university. “It looked organised and had method. We’re waiting for the final count but I’d say losses in goods alone will be in the millions.

“This is a whole new criminal enterprise, the use of political protests as cover for enormous heists. These boys knew what they were up to; they planned where they would be so as to stretch police resources. It was expertly carried out. This was not spontaneous. Ordinary people do not just riot like that. They had coaching and leadership. The *Gardai were fully engaged and yet the looters just took what they wanted.

“Politicians around the world should take note. Political protests may have more basic motives, particularly when the protesters appear to be responding spontaneously to some incident or other.”

One protester, **Joxer from Dublin’s inner city, insists that he was rioting because he was angry. “I fucking wanted Nike runners. I didn’t get them. Some foreign cunt took them. Bastard!”
