KURSK

IT WAS THE greatest tank battle of all time. Operation Citadel, launched by Germany in 1943. The target, the Russian city of Kursk. The outcome, Russian victory. After Kursk, defeat in the Second World War was virtually certain for Germany.

This week, Ukraine has launched an offensive towards Kursk. The Ukrainians will naturally be hoping for a different outcome.
