AUSTRALIA’S LABOR GOVERNMENT insists that an earthquake in New South Wales’ Hunter Valley had no relationship to new internal polls which show the Federal administration’s popularity sliding in the face of economic pain being suffered by people across the Commonwealth.
“The earth has moved but the Australian Government has not,” says Bluey Digger, whose construction business went into liquidation last week. “They continue to spend like there’s no tomorrow, right at the point when inflation pressures are still high enough for interest rates to go back up. Interest rates have to come down before every other business in the country follows mine into the dunny. Surely they see that? I won’t be voting for them next time out.”
