“IT WAS A BIT like the Doctor in Doctor Who, regenerating.”

A captain in the Israeli Defence Forces is absolutely sure he saw another Yahwa Sinwar appear out of the dead Hamas leader’s body the same day he died.

Others claim that they saw it, too. But most don’t want to talk about it.

“It was him all right,” said a soldier from Tel Aviv who did not wish to be named. “Look, I know it sounds crazy, but that’s what I saw. And he was smiling. Creepy.”

Israel has been claiming a huge success in the killing of Sinwar, who is said to have masterminded the October 7 Hamas attacks inside its borders. Supporters around the globe have been quick to remind the world that the man they call a butcher, had it coming. And that this is a body blow for Hamas, from which it is unlikely to recover.

“So this is it, is it?” asked a female officer of her commander inside Gaza. “Now we have killed Sinwar, it’s all over, we’ve won?”

“Hold your fire there, soldier,” the reply came. “There are millions more where he came from.”
