FROM OUR POLITICAL ANALYSIS DESK
A SENIOR LECTURER in politics at a major online university says the Democratic Party in the United States may become unelectable if it continues on its current path.
“This reminds me of the Labour Party in the United Kingdom during the 1980s, where it was taken over by lunatic fringe elements with Marxist and Trotskyist dogmas, and became virtually untouchable for over a decade,” says Professor Karl Engels of the Perestroika Institute in Kaliningrad. “I ought to know. In was big in the Militant Tendency, which wanted to take Britain into a Soviet-style paradise. Oh God, please forgive me for my youth. It’s the blind certainty that Utopia can be achieved that leaves the biggest mess. The contempt for ordinary people by those who consider themselves the brightest and best. The sheer lack of imagination. Watch out for that first. That’s the giveaway. If the American Democrats continue the way they are going, they will sit in an echo chamber watching the world move on without them.”
