GANGSTER RUNNING FOR ELECTION IN IRELAND RAISES TONE OF DEBATE

DUBLIN, IRELAND

THE ANNOUNCEMENT BY Gerry “The Monk” Hutch that he would contest the coming Irish General Election in Dublin, has caused experts to remark that his participation would probably elevate the contest from its usual low levels.

“He’s a self-made man, with a high profile and the financial resources to run a hard campaign,” said a political academic who did not wish to be named. “He’s a man we know can get things done. Not a political hack with experience of nothing, trading off the coattails of the previous hack they’re trying to replace. Gerry Hutch has vast experience of all aspects of Irish life – the good and the bad and the ugly – and is a genuine problem solver. Indeed, he might find the Dail a little underwhelming if elected. They’re more into creating problems.”

Rumors that Hutch will only go into government if he can become Minister for Justice, have not been confirmed.

“It would be a smart move, especially where the Kinahan issue is concerned,” said a family friend. “Potential hit men would have to think twice about their plans. I can see added value in that.”
