AS IT PLUMBS the depths of absurdity, in response to the victory of Donald Trump, reality has come knocking on the door of left-wing news outlet, MSNBC. Americans just aren’t watching it any more. More of them now admit to preferring to watch a fresh coat of pain dry on their bathroom wall than to sit in front of an MSNBC broadcast.

“The last time I saw this was when demented Communists tried to convince us that bread and meat queues in Moscow and other Iron Curtain cities were an indication that Socialism was working,” says Larry Matt, a former CIA officer who followed thousands of East Germans as they scrambled to escape their paradise in 1989. “They blamed everything on western plots. No matter how desperate the situation became – indeed, the more desperate it became – the more they doubled down on their stupidity. I saw it again in Zimbabwe and Cuba, and worst of all in Cambodia. Don’t underestimate the power of supposedly intelligent maniacs to wreck a country. Remember it ain’t what you don’t know that brings you down, it’s what you’re absolutely certain of that just ain’t so.”
