DUBLIN
GIVEN IRISH POLITICIANS’ unwavering support for the people of Gaza, it has been suggested that the Government of the Emerald Isle could offer to take the entire population of the Gaza Strip if Donald Trump does act on his proposal to send them abroad so he can turn their homeland into a rich playground.
“Well, the Irish Government is the immigrant’s best friend, isn’t it?” says Cade Falty of the Never Too Full Institute, an Irish state-backed agency founded to encourage as many migrants as it can to come to the land of saints and scholars. “And we are the Palestinians’ best friends, aren’t we? It’s a marriage made in heaven, a way of really proving how much we love and support our Palestinian brothers and sisters. We can fit another two or three million people in our republic. I’m sure, if the Government is asked, it will welcome them with open arms. Mr Trump only has to pick up the phone.”
