PUBLIC SECTOR EMPLOYEES IN AUSTRALIA FURIOUS AT PLANS FOR ‘HUGELY EXCESSIVE’ FOUR-DAY WORKING WEEK

CANBERRA

PLANS BY THE Australian Government to reduce the country’s working week, from 5 days to 4, has been met with fury by those employed by the Federal, territorial and state governments across the continent.

“This has come as a huge shock to public sector employees around Australia,” explained a trade union official who did not wish to be named. “Most of them hardly work two days a week; many stretch to work three, and very few, if any actually work four. They will see this as an attempt to make them slaves.”

A left-wing Federal employee who has not worked more than one day a week for the past thirty years, remarked: “This hugely excessive imposition by a vile regime posing as a champion of labour, will be met with the opposition it deserves. We will not work four days a week, under any circumstances.”
