US PLAN TO CONFISCATE WEDDING RINGS TO PAY OFF NATIONAL DEBT

FROM GORDION KNOT, SOLUTIONS EDITOR

IN A SCHEME inspired by Franklin Roosevelt’s great gold confiscation of the 1930s, the US Administration has been presented with a plan to seize all the wedding rings in the country and sell the gold to pay down the national debt.

“There are millions and millions of wedding rings out there, many of them never worn, some never even taken out of the box, and so the sacrifice of a band of gold would not really have much effect on the life of the average American,” insisted a spokesman for the Treasury Department. “If that gold can pay down the country’s debt, then the way is open for more and more tax cuts. Everyone wins. Perhaps a simple ‘M‘ tattoo on the back of the hand can indicate marital status. I think wives would definitely appreciate that.”
