TEHRAN
THE CURRENT PROTESTS in Iran have shown that Iran’s people have more grievances with their own leadership than they do with Israel, it seems.
Last year’s short war with Israel left Iran with a bloody nose and only one real advantage over the Jewish state: people. The population of Israel is almost 10 million; the population of Iran is almost 93 million.
If the people of Iran were firmly behind their leaders, it just might have been possible for millions upon millions of Iranians to march across Iraq and into Syria, Jordan and Lebanon, to attack Israel.
But that didn’t happen. Instead, Iran had to sit and be essentially bitch slapped by Israel, and then Donald Trump. Tehran served missiles into Israel but they were fairy ineffective. The return of serve was brutal. Iran’s leaders went quiet. Meanwhile, sanctions which have been in place for decades, have begun to really strangle the Islamic Republic’s economy. And it appears the people have had enough.
So they’re on the streets, and the Mullahs and their support are concerned, and you can bet the CIA and Mossad and MI6, and just about anyone else with skin in the game, are in there helping the protesters out. When people are proposing the son of the last Shah as your replacement, you know you’re in trouble.
