TERRITORIAL DEMANDS EDITOR
IN A CURIOUS REFLECTION of what is called the Mandela Effect, huge numbers of people around the world were convinced President Donald Trump was speaking in German when he addressed the World Economic Forum at Davos, in Switzerland.
The Mandela Effect is a phenomenon whereby people are absolutely sure of having remembered something that did not happen, and it is often attributed to the possibility of the existence of parallel universes. Or bad memories.
“When Mr Trump was making his territorial demand for Greenland, millions of viewers were convinced he had been speaking in German, some even saying that they remembered him waving his right arm about, while others were sure he had been wearing a brown shirt, and large leather boots,” says research psychologist Semoline Pydding of the Paris-based Tirani Institute, which investigates the effects of raw power on ordinary people . “Several hundreds of thousands even claim they saw a small mustache beneath Trump’s nose but reassured themselves that he either had a cold or had misplaced his black forest gateau dessert. He is nearly eighty after all.”
