IRAN PLAYS ELTON JOHN CLASSIC ‘I’M STILL STANDING’ OUT OVER THE PERSIAN GULF

BELGRADE, THURSDAY

AMERICAN LISTENING POSTS along the Persian Gulf have been picking up broadcasts of Elton John’s I’m Still Standing coming from Iran, while people along the coasts of the eastern side of the Arabian Peninsula confirm that the same song is actually coming from loudspeakers on the Iranian side of the Gulf.

“They have giant speaker systems, like ghetto blasters, you know,” said fisherman Abdul. “First they were playing Queen’s We Will Rock You – Go, Freddie – then The BeatlesHard Day’s Night; now it’s this Elton John song I’m Still Standing. You can hear it on our side of the Gulf. You can probably hear it on the moon.”
