“OIL MAY NOT ever recover from this war!”
John Batry, a hedge fund manager based in Zimbabwe, thinks the current war between the United States, Israel and Iran may be the death knell for the dominance of oil in the world.
“We’ll be interested in shorting oil from here on,” he continued. “Electric vehicles should really benefit from what’s happening. If companies like Tesla had had a wish list last Christmas, this kind of thing would have been at the top of it. Electric cars were losing their attraction in recent months, but this is the kind of thing that supercharges technological revolutions, much more than philosophies or desires. We have seen again, up close and persona,l how precarious oil dependency is. Countries will be wanting to get as far away from that as soon as possible. I mean, there will always be a need for some oil but its dominance is dangerous, very dangerous. Too damn dangerous. We have to get off our dependence on oil, if only to survive.”
