FROM OUR BRONZE AGE CORRESPONDENT D.T. RUMP
AS PRAISE FLOWS from all corners of the Christopher Nolan Fanverse, his latest movie The Odyssey has seen an enormous internet search for translations of the phrase “Fuck Off” into ancient Greek, following its use in the film’s dialogue.
“This could be a tipping point,” says Dr Lorcan Achilles, lecturer in classical languages at the University of Sub-Saharan Africa, based in California. “That single phrase, spoken by one of the Nolan movie’s also ran characters, could see a tremendous increase in native speakers of Ancient Greek emerging around the world. AI will make this much easier. I think that this Nolan opus may be the beginning of something.”
