FOLLOWING THE DECISION to discontinued a series of sketches from the series, That Mitchell and Webb Look, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is said to be considering a proposal to gather up all the programs it now deems too offensive to broadcast and put them out on a new subscriber-based channel, BBC Offensive.

“It’s not clear whether the *Beeb will run such a channel or licence it to a private concern, which can then endure the whining and complaining that it’s likely to provoke,” says entertainment reporter Close Shave, whose podcast brings in more viewers than every current BBC program combined. “The licencing arrangement would mean oodles of cash for **Auntie and allow any sundry commercial licencees to give two fingers to the various committees of public safety who think laughter is a racist conspiracy.

“BBC Offensive would have a huge library of comedy to pick from, and would insulate itself by a paywall that probably would secure a worldwide audience.

“And if it works, then look forward to things like BBC Obnoxious, BBC Fawn and Crawl, BBC MI5 and BBC Kitchen Sink. On these channels, the Beeb could delve into its archive of grotesque dramas and plays, its enormous collection of sycophantic and ridiculously biased documentaries, the history of MI5 vetting its staff, and the almost inexhaustible reservoir of kitchen sink material from the 1960s and 1970s. And then, if they can see their way, there’s probably coin in something like BBC Scandal. Every piece of dirty linen the corporation has ever tried to hide. Frank Bough. Jimmy Savile. Rolf Harris. Which then would spark an obvious follow up, BBC Hypocrisy. Look, they’re short of money, they’re firing staff. This is a way to save themselves. They should grab it.”
