BELGRADE, THURSDAY

A THREE-HUNDRED year old pet lizard, that has been in the same family since its arrival from France in the 18th Century, dropped dead in Montreal after being shown photographs of pop star Katy Perry and former Canadian Premier Justin Trudeau expressing their affection for each other.

The lizard, named Louis, witnessed, among other things, the fall of Quebec to the British in 1759, the burning of Washington, DC, by the British, in 1814, and the D-Day landings, with the British, in 1944.

“He has seen a lot,” said his distraught owner. “My ancestors carried him everywhere and he survived it all. Unfortunately, the sight of Trudeau and Perry all loved up was just too much for him. He just keeled over. I will never forget the look on his face when he saw those photographs. Horrible.”
